Sticky rice plate from Tofu 101 in Bellevue for Duanwu Festival (Dragon Boat Festival). Although the official holiday is in June, celebrators look forward to this time of year when they can get sticky rice in all of it’s delicious forms (see below). So, Asian supermarkets make sure to start selling early.

Sticky rice ball, or “fan tuan.” This type is made with purple rice, and filled with fried Chinese donut, pickled vegetable and dried pork filling.
