When David was younger, he and his dad would go to the train tracks and flatten coins. The weight of multiple freight trains passing through could flatten a penny to the thinness of paper; that’s how the legend goes, so I needed to see this for myself. South Lake Union has the city’s first Streetcar (the second one is coming to my neighborhood of First Hill). After much speculation and a bout of courage, we meticulously “dropped” a few pennies on the track and patiently waited.
