Columbia Tower.

Columbia Tower’s Sky View Observatory opened on its 73rd floor. I had the pleasure of visiting the Columbia Tower Club a few years ago, but this experience was much more enjoyable. There’s something nice about taking pictures of the view without the peering eyes of club patrons wondering when you’re going to leave. And the price of visiting the Observatory is quite less expensive than a Club membership. A few months ago, we visited the Smith Tower Observation Deck, and it was amusing to see the top of Smith from much higher above. Although the view at Smith is beautiful, Columbia’s is quite unbeatable (literally – “At nearly 1,000 feet it offers the tallest public viewing area west of the Mississippi.”).

At $12.50 a ticket, this place is a worth a visit at any time, rain or shine.

    • A fun day: Lunch at Skillet Diner then Pie at High 5 Pie; an “eclectic” walk Downtown through Capitol Hill, shopping at Nordstrom then Chinese Food in the International District (I like 663 Bistro). Enjoy!
